Delf Coldwear Solutions
When a company has traded successfully for more than 20 years, it can seem a bold decision to change its name, adopt a new logo and develop a new range of marketing collateral in pursuit of business growth.
Yet this is exactly the path that specialist clothing manufacturer Delf Coldwear Solutions has taken – a journey that has been completed with the support of business grants.
Founded as Delf Freezerwear in 1982, the company makes clothing that keeps people warm working in sub-zero temperatures, particularly in the food manufacture, storage and distribution industry. Delf prides itself on being able to supply quality garments manufactured to an exacting standard to keep the wearer safe, warm, comfortable and productive. Delf boasts an enviable client list ranging from the Ministry of Defence to major companies in the chilled and frozen food industry and has satisfied customers in Cyprus, Iceland, Ireland, Kuala Lumpur, the Middle East, Malta, Portugal and South Africa.
Delf’s Managing Director David Barker admits that after 20 years in business, the market had changed almost beyond recognition – yet Delf had not. “We needed to re-energise the image of the company. Our image made us look small compared to our competition and we were undoubtedly missing out on some opportunities to tender for business as a result.
“Although we understood the business case for a re-launch, we needed a push in the right direction – which was what Business Link for London was able to provide. When you are so close to the business, it can be difficult to accept that your image is outdated.
“Our consultant helped us with the development of the design brief and the selection of an appropriate agency that would be able to translate our aims into tangible results. We hadn’t anticipated how involved the whole process was, but we are now comfortable with our new look, marketing materials and website. The brochure in particular is generating enquiries from potential new customers,” says David.
