Create A Home Business in 6 Steps
Step 1: Review Your Finances
Your first step to creating a money-making home business will be to review
your current income, expenses and debts. I know it doesn't sound very exciting,
but don't skip this step. Knowing your starting point can make it easier to
get to where you want to be.
Do you have a lot of debt? Have you considered ways of reducing your expenses?
Realistically you will need US$ 500.00 to US$ 1000.00 to get a money-making
home business underway. You can do it for less, but that will require a lot of
creativity and a much greater commitment of time.
Are you looking to supplement your current income or replace it completely?
If you wish to become self-employed don't forget to factor in benefits (such
as health insurance) in determining the wage you will need to live. It may go
without saying, but don't give up your day job until you are sure you will be
able to meet your needs.
At this point I strongly recommend you read the book
Your Money Or Your Life
by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin. It shows you how to realistically determine
your current worth, how to get out of debt, and how to align your spending
habits with your lifestyle and financial goals.
Unlike other money books it does not offer a "one size fits all" solution.
It does not tell you how to budget or ask you to deprive yourself by cutting
corners. It does make you examine your priorities and your relationship with
money. And it shows you how to overcome negative ideas about money that may be
holding you back.
Even if you ignore all the other advice on this site, BUY THIS BOOK! I cannot
recommend it too highly!
